Estate planning for a family that owns a business usually involves more than a will. The questions can include who will run or own the company, how shares will pass, how the plan fits with corporate and tax structuring, and who should hold powers of attorney for property and personal care. Because our firm practises corporate, tax and estates law, these pieces can be considered together. For individuals and families without a business, we focus on clear wills and powers of attorney, and on reviewing the plan as circumstances change, for example after a marriage, the birth of a child, or the purchase or sale of property.
