About Stephen

Stephen M. Cheifetz is a corporate, commercial and tax lawyer in Windsor, called to the Ontario Bar in 1982. For more than four decades he has advised businesses ranging from early-stage startups and seed-round ventures to established multinational enterprises. His clients include local entrepreneurs incorporating their first business and U.S. and European companies operating in Canada.

His practice covers corporate and commercial law, tax planning and structuring, banking and finance, and cross-border transactions. His cross-border work includes seminars across the United States on doing business in Canada, presented on behalf of the Government of Ontario. He has also lectured for the U.S. Small Business Administration on the Canada–U.S. Free Trade Agreement. He has been a lecturer in business law at the University of Windsor and has taught International Sales and Secured Transactions at the Detroit Mercy School of Law. He has served on the boards of directors of several U.S. and European companies with Canadian operations.

Stephen works to understand each client's business, goals and concerns. He aims to return calls and emails promptly and gives clear, practical guidance on the issues in each matter.

In the Windsor community, Stephen serves as President of the Windsor Jewish Federation and is a member of the Windsor Essex Capital Angel Network, which invests in early-stage businesses.

About Joshua

Joshua Cheifetz combines training in engineering, business and law. He graduated from Western University's combined Engineering and Business program through the Ivey Business School, and he brings that business background to the commercial side of each transaction.

Joshua is called to the bar in Ontario, Michigan and the District of Columbia. He advises entrepreneurs, business owners and corporations on corporate structuring, tax planning, commercial real estate and leasing, estate planning, and mergers and acquisitions. His admissions in Ontario, Michigan and the District of Columbia are relevant to clients doing business in the Windsor–Detroit corridor.

Joshua aims to return calls and emails promptly and to give clear, practical advice, working closely with clients to understand their goals. He has practised in Windsor since his call to the Ontario Bar in 2013, advising businesses on matters from startup incorporations to acquisitions.
